We have provided a compilation of legislation that will impact people with disabilities and you can reach it by visiting our “2008 Legislation” page. It doesn’t include every piece of legislation, but it does include dozens to watch plus a few non-disability bills just for fun.

Upgraded General Assembly Site
The General Assembly’s web site now includes a great new feature that lets you find out which bills your legislator is sponsoring. Just go to one of the pages below which list members of the House and Senate.

It’s All About Committees …

Do you wonder why the votes for Lieutenant Governor Ron Ramsey and Speaker of the House “Jimmy” Naifeh were so critical? It’s because they get to make all the committee appointments for their respective chambers and it’s in committees that the nitty-gritty work of legislating happens. If a bill can’t get through committee, then it is as good as dead.

If you want to impact legislation then you need to track what committee your bills are going through. If it looks like a bill you are tracking may come up before a committee soon, then contact your legislator to let him or her know. Even if your legislator isn’t on that committee they may have friends who are on the committee.
