Parent Training for Young Children at Risk for Autism
Who are we looking for?
Children between the ages of 15 and 24 months who are at risk for developing an
autism spectrum disorder (ASD). This includes:
• Children who have failed a routine autism screening
• Younger siblings of children with ASD
• Children who have delays in social and communication development
• Children whose parents or service providers have expressed concerns
about ASD
What is this study about?
We are examining the potential benefits of a parent training intervention designed
to improve social communication skills in young children at risk for an ASD.
What would you have to do?
• Come to Vanderbilt for a screening visit to determine eligibility.
• Participate in 3 assessments at Vanderbilt over a 9-month period.
• Be willing to be randomly assigned to either an intervention group or control
group.
