Universal Newborn Hearing Screening Program
JOB DESCRIPTION

 
The position is available to 2 part-time employees geographically located in West Tennessee.  One position is to be filled in the Memphis area and the other position is available in other geographic locations in West TN.  The position will be filled by parent/consumer family members related to a child with a diagnosis of deafness, hard-of-hearing, and/or other hearing related condition.  Some light traveling in the West TN area is involved.

 

Parent consultant will:

  • Work as part of team to build and strengthen new and existing family networks and resources for hearing impaired individuals and their families.
  • Conduct outreach through family and provider networks to connect with families targeted by the project including travel within the designated region of the state to accomplish outreach activities.
  • Provide consultation and support to families affected by hearing impairments in children and related concerns. 
  • Provide information, identify possible resources and offer referral assistance as requested or appropriate to families or providers that serve affected families.

 

Position pays $12.25/hour, based on 8-hour work week.  Target hire date is February 18, 2008.  Phone & personal interviews will be conducted in January and February.  We will not be able to interview every applicant.  Please see Instructions for Application.
