Rock the Disability Vote - Clarksville

Did you know?
There are 33.5 million people with disabilities of voting age and research shows that they are 20% less likely than non-disabled peers to vote. If people with disabilities voted at the same rate as their peers, 5 to 10 million more Americans would cast a ballot.
What stops them?
Come join us for a lunch and learn session to explore this topic at the Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library. The event will be followed by a meet and greet with local disability agencies!
Day: Saturday, September 27th
Time: 10am to noon with organization exhibits and complimentary lunch to follow.
We will dive into many issues confronting voters with disabilities today, including guardianship, I.D. laws, felony records, and the general accessibility of polling places & the voting process. Various voting fundamentals will be included, such as registering to vote and resources on learning about candidates. Information will also be available on how to get to know your current elected officials.
RSVP for Lunch by Friday, September 19th – email voteproject@charterinternet.com or call Bob Leonard at the TARP Center for Independent Living at 731-644-0026 to RSVP or ask questions.
This is a free event co-sponsored by TARP Center for Independent Living, the Statewide Independent Living Council of Tennessee, the Tennessee Disability Coalition, and the Disability Law & Advocacy Center of Tennessee.
