Family Support Program in FY 2013-14

This afternoon, the TN Department of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities presented a 2013-14 Fiscal Year budget proposal before Governor Bill Haslam. The budget included the request to show what a 5% cut would look like, and among other essential services, the Family Support Program would lose $2.6 million. The General Assembly worked hard this Spring to create funds for this cost-effective program that prevents many people from needing more expensive services and allows them to live in their own homes and communities. Now is the time to share with the Governor's office what the Family Support Program means to more than 4,000 TN families it serves, and our greater community. With our advocacy, the Family Support Program can still make it into the Governor's budget for next year.
