Brainstorming Solutions Tool
The Brainstorming Solutions Tool (BST) was originally designed to provide a framework for direct support providers working in home, community and residential settings to determine the strengths and weaknesses of the person served. With this information, the support provider can then use the Strategies and Accommodations Tool to decide what strategies and accommodations to use the help the person overcome their challenges and focus on their strengths.
The BST looks at the person’s cognition (thinking abilities), language, motor abilities, vision, social skills, emotional state and behavior.
